Challenge

Life Extension used manual processes and paper notes to track inventory in the warehouse. This warehouse wasted countless hours having warehouse employees hunting down inventory, taking significant time away from receiving and fulfilling orders. They had no way to locate specific lot numbers at all.

The company needed to automate inventory management and lot control in the warehouse to continue growing as a business. They required an efficient mobile inventory solution to drive accuracy, eliminate labor-intensive manual processes, and seamlessly integrate with their JD Edwards system.

Solution

Life Extension selected the ideal solution to deploy across the United States: RFgen Mobile Foundations for JD Edwards, the premier mobile barcoding solution featuring suites of pre-built, pre-validated mobile apps.

Senior Business Analyst Jorge Gonzalez explained one of the deciding factors: “With RFgen’s built-in Mobile Development Studio, we have the source code after Go-Live to make modifications to the applications ourselves in-house.”

The new RFgen solution enabled real-time mobile inventory control at maximum accuracy and efficiency with seamless JD Edwards and label printing integration. Through lot control, the company could employ a more granular approach to first-in, first-out (FIFO) picking rules, and establish greater product traceability.

A Self-sufficient Future

The ability to modify their RFgen solution as needed with their own in-house developers was a major selling point for Gonzalez and the Life Extension team, especially in the long term.

“In my experience, one of the shortcomings of the solution I used previously was that we never had the source code,” said Gonzalez. “Any modifications or customizations we had to do to meet our business needs required consulting.”

With RFgen, that is not the case. RFgen Mobile Development Studio helps users get the most of their new technology investment by simplifying the entire mobile application development lifecycle. For Life Extension, Mobile Development Studio ensures the ongoing viability of the RFgen platform as their business needs change over time.
