  • Rapid Mobile App Modification and Creation with Mobile Development Studio

Challenge

As a large enterprise operation with facilities spread throughout Latin and North America and experiencing rapid growth, Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) faced major challenges in managing spare parts inventory for MRO.

Spare parts inventory movements were recorded by hand, causing discrepancies between what mechanics wrote down and what was entered into the system, creating inaccurate consumption and inventory reporting. To compensate for these discrepancies, the warehouse was forced to stock more parts to prevent shortages.

Results

  • Eliminated Paper Processes
  • Real-time Inventory Movement
  • Reduced Stock Levels by 15%, Safety Stock by 50%
  • Seamless Upgrade to SAP S/4HANA
  • Rapid Mobile App Modification and Creation with Mobile Development Studio

Solution

After researching several possible solutions to their inventory challenges, GCC was able to build a strong business case for adopting RFgen Mobile Foundations for SAP, the premiere mobile barcoding solution featuring suites of pre-built, pre-validated mobile apps.

The new RFgen solution enabled GCC to gain real-time mobile inventory tracking and visibility with perfect accuracy for every spare parts warehouse in their organization for plant maintenance.

Results

RFgen enabled Grupo Cementos to automate 95% of their warehouse transactions and eliminate paper processes with transformative benefits, such as:

  • Enabling workers to store, move and issue parts, look up inventory data, perform cycle counts and print labels directly from mobile devices at the point-of-work.
  • Reducing stock levels by 15% and safety stock by 50%, freeing additional working capital.
  • Increasing cycle count accuracy by 20%.
  • Seamless upgrade to S/4HANA, paving way for EWM mobile apps.

Looking Ahead

While GCC continues to enjoy the benefits of mobile barcoding, RFgen also empowers the company to continue evolving their solution into the future. RFgen includes Mobile Development Studio, a low-code mobile app development platform (MADP) that empowers GCC with the ability to quickly modify and create new mobile apps in-house without extensive skill sets.

In addition, with S/4HANA firmly in place, a further expansion with Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) could be on the horizon. When they are ready to take the next step, GCC can easily add RFgen’s EWM mobile app suite to their existing solution to maximize the positive impact of EWM.

Using a barcode system in the warehouse is a must, and by choosing RFgen, I’m positive we picked a very good solution. Very user-friendly, not intrusive and very easy to configure.
